Hawng Tsai is a teacher, teacher educator and an education policy advocate especially for peace education, MTB-MLE and right to education. She has been working with ethnic education groups, monastic education, faith-based education, migrant education, IDPs education, refugees, and community-based education in Burma/Myanmar for more than fifteen years. She is also an advisor of Virtual Federal University (VFU), Burma/Myanmar and various community-based education organisations in Burma/Myanmar.
Serving as a director of Thinking Classroom Foundation based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Hawng Tsai also works as a national coordinator of Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE), a regional education policy advocacy organization based in Mumbai, India and Manila, Philippines. She also serves the board as a secretary at Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking International Consortium (RWCT-IC) from 2014- 2019. She is currently a communication manager of The Peace with Justice Network.
Hawng Tsai completed B.Sc Physics from Myitkyina University, Kachin State, Burma and B.Sc Child Development and Education from the Philippines and current MA Social Sciences in Development Studies student at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Her research focuses on “Kachin indigenous education, resistance and adaptability during pandemic and military coup”.
